A good home office starts with how you actually work. Two monitors or one laptop? Paper files or none? A printer you would rather not look at all day? The desk length, the knee space, the drawer sizes, and the shelf heights all get planned around those answers. A standard desk surface sits around 29 to 30 inches high, but a built-in desk can be set to your height and your chair instead of the average.
The wall behind you matters as much as the desk. On video calls it is your backdrop, so lit shelves, a molded panel, or a wood wall make a better frame than bare drywall. Cords get handled with grommets in the desktop, a channel behind the shelves, and an outlet location planned before the cabinets go in. Closed lower cabinets keep the printer, the router, and the paperwork out of sight, while the open shelves above stay for books and decor.
Wood and stain are where most of the decisions happen. White oak, a warm stain, or painted cabinets with a wood desktop are all common choices, and stain samples get checked in your room's own light before the final coat. Many offices around Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota are spare bedrooms, so the layout has to work around a closet door and a window. Send the room size, a photo of each wall, and a list of what the office needs to hold.
“Super happy with this custom office install. Guys are timely, professional and trustworthy. Made sure we were happy along the way with stain colors even after I changed my mind.”

Yes. A spare bedroom is a common spot, so the plan works around the closet, the window, and the door swing. Sometimes the closet itself becomes part of the office, with shelving or a desk nook built inside it. The room size and a photo of each wall are enough to get started.
Yes. Stain looks different on every kind of wood and in every room's light, so samples get checked in your space before the finish goes on. It is fine to change your mind at that stage. That is the whole point of checking first, and it is much easier than refinishing later.
Grommets in the desktop drop cords to a hidden channel or a cabinet below. Monitor arms need a desktop thick and solid enough to clamp to, so that gets planned in. A TV on the office wall can be set into a molded panel, with the cable path worked out before the panel goes up.
